Design is how I think.
Building is how I prove it.

My name's Gustavo. I'm from Paraíba, and currently based in Rio.

I've always been drawn across disciplines. Before "builder" became a survival requirement, I'd like to think I already was one, too curious to stay in one lane.

I start every morning in our forums talking to users. What's working, what's missing, what's bringing people joy. It's a reflection of my philosophy: stay very close to your customers, obsess about their problems, and dissolve yourself in their service.

My motivations have shifted over the years. Early on it was craft, creative expression and the beautiful interfaces. I still love craft, but I increasingly find myself thinking mostly about customer problems and business outcomes.

Software is living. Speed is a virtue. Interfaces are increasingly cheap. At an AI startup there is constant existential risk in the background. Figuring out what to build, and holding the tension between speed and rigor increasingly feels like my job; what problems are we solving, what can we yolo, and what merits going deep because it's load-bearing.

Five years in, there are still days I feel like a beginner. But I'm still as excited as ever. I love building product. And I have a system that works: when I swing I hit more often than I miss.

Values I believe in.

The way I work is shaped as much by values as it is by craft. These are the principles I come back to when teams get messy, ambiguous, or high-stakes.

01

Disagree, but commit.

I care a lot about the quality of the work, so I speak up when I think something is off. But once a direction is chosen, I commit fully — teams move faster when people stop protecting their own opinions and start executing together.

02

A sports-team mindset.

The best teams feel coordinated, honest, and resilient. They celebrate wins together, learn from losses without drama, and keep showing up for one another when the work gets hard.

03

Be kind, be true, be you.

I'd rather work with people who are real than people who are polished. Kindness is not weakness, and honesty is not rudeness. They're usually the foundation for trust, clarity, and long-term collaboration.
